1. About these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and BantaScore ("BantaScore", "we", "us"). They apply to the BantaScore website at bantascore.com, the BantaScore app at app.bantascore.com and any related services (together, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who can use BantaScore
To use the Service you must:
- be at least 16 years old;
- if you are under 18, have the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf;
- be located in a country where BantaScore is available. BantaScore currently operates in Nigeria;
- not have had a BantaScore account suspended or closed for breaking these Terms.
Your country is set when you sign up, based on where you sign up from, and decides which currency you are paid in and which pots you can join. You may not use a VPN or other tools to misrepresent your location.
We may ask you to confirm your age or identity at any time, including before paying a prize. If you cannot, or we find that you do not meet these requirements, we may close your account. Any prize not yet paid will be handled as described in section 10.
3. Your account
- You sign up and sign in with your email address, which we verify with a one-time code. Adding a phone number is optional.
- You may have only one account. Accounts are personal and may not be shared, sold or transferred.
- Keep your password and sign-in codes secret. You are responsible for activity on your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
- Your display name appears on pot leaderboards. It must not impersonate anyone, be offensive, or include contact details or links. We may change or remove a display name that breaks this rule.
- Keep your details accurate, especially your payout account details.
4. How BantaScore works
BantaScore is a social football prediction game. A potter creates and funds a prize pot for one football match. Players predict the final score for free. After the match, predictions are scored and ranked, and the most accurate players win the prize.
BantaScore is not betting. Players never pay to predict and never stake money. The only money involved is the prize, which the potter pays in full before the pot opens. Players win by skill, based on how accurate their prediction is.
5. Creating and managing a pot
- A potter chooses a match, a prize amount, the number of winners (1 to 3) and whether the pot is public or private, then funds the prize through our payment provider, Paystack. The pot opens to predictions once payment is confirmed.
- Pot terms are fixed at creation. The fees, prediction lock time, cancellation cutoff and prize split shown when you create a pot apply to that pot for its whole life, even if our standard settings change later.
- Public pots appear in discovery. Private pots are hidden and can only be reached through their share link, or by the potter and people who have already predicted.
- The potter can change the number of winners and the pot's privacy until predictions lock. These changes are recorded.
- A potter may cancel a pot until 20 minutes before kickoff. After that the pot cannot be cancelled. The refund depends on when you cancel (see section 8).
- Potters may predict on their own pots under the same rules and lock times as everyone else.
- Prize money must be your own and come from a lawful source. Pots may not be used to move money between people, to pay for goods or services, or to disguise the origin of funds.
6. Predictions
- Each player has one prediction per pot: a final score and, optionally, the minute of the first goal.
- You can change your prediction until predictions lock, 15 minutes before kickoff (or the lock time shown on the pot). An edit counts as a new submission and its time is used for tie-breaking.
- Predictions cannot be added, changed or withdrawn after the lock.
- Your display name, prediction, points, rank and any prize you win are shown on the pot's leaderboard to everyone who can view the pot.
7. Results, scoring and ranking
Only regulation time counts: 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shootouts are ignored for scoring and prizes. Match data comes from a third-party sports data provider. If that data is wrong or delayed, we may correct the result from reliable official sources before scoring.
Each prediction earns points for each of these it gets right:

A perfect prediction scores 12 points. Players level on points are separated, in order, by: correctly backing the underdog, then the first-goal minute closest to the real one, then the earliest submission. Every player therefore has their own rank, and each prize place goes to one player.
Points and ranks are calculated once, after the match has an official 90-minute result. Until then, leaderboards show predictions without points. A prediction that scores 0 points never wins a prize, whatever its rank.
8. Prizes, payouts and refunds
Prizes
When a pot pays its winners, we keep a platform fee (10% of the prize by default) and the rest (the "winner pool") is shared between winners in rank order. The default splits are 100% for one winner, 60% / 40% for two, and 50% / 30% / 20% for three. If fewer people predict than there are prize places, the split for the actual number of players is used. The exact fee and split for a pot are shown on the pot.
Payouts
- Prizes are paid in your local currency (Nigerian naira) to your default payout account. We never convert currencies.
- Adding a payout account is optional. If you win without one, your prize is held for you as a claim, which you can withdraw in full at any time after adding an account. BantaScore is not a wallet: held money earns no interest and cannot be used to fund pots.
- The payout account must be in your own name. You are responsible for its details being correct. We are not responsible for a transfer that reaches the account you gave us.
- Payouts are made through Paystack. Bank processing can add delays outside our control. If a payout fails, we will retry it, and you can update your details and withdraw it yourself.
- You are responsible for any tax that applies to prizes you receive.
Refunds to potters
If a pot does not pay any winners, the prize is refunded to the potter, less the fee for that outcome:

If a match is postponed or abandoned, we start the refund immediately. Refunds go to the potter's default payout account, or are held as a claim if they have none. How long a refund takes to arrive depends on the payment provider and your bank.
9. Fees and changes to fees
Predicting is always free. Platform fees apply only to the prize funded by a potter, as described in section 8. We may change our standard fees, lock and cancellation times, or prize splits for new pots. These changes never affect a pot that has already been created. Paystack's own processing charges, if any, are shown before you pay.
10. Fair play
You must not:
- create or use more than one account, or predict on behalf of someone else;
- work with other players to manipulate a pot's outcome, or create pots only to pass money to yourself or others;
- use bots, scripts or other automated means to access the Service;
- exploit bugs or errors, or interfere with the Service's security or operation;
- use the Service for fraud, money laundering or anything else unlawful;
- harass other users, or use offensive or misleading display names.
If we reasonably suspect a breach, we may investigate and, while we do, hold prizes or refunds that are affected. If we confirm a breach, we may void the predictions involved, withhold or recover prizes won through it, close your account, and report unlawful activity to the authorities. Where we can, we will re-rank the affected pot without the void predictions so that honest players are not penalised. We will tell you the reason for any action we take unless the law prevents it.
11. Questions about results or payments
If you think a result, score, ranking or payment is wrong, contact us at support@bantascore.com as soon as possible, ideally within 14 days of the match. Our team reviews every case, and all financial actions are recorded so they can be checked. If we find an error, we will correct it, which may include re-scoring a pot or recovering an amount paid by mistake.
12. The Service and its content
- We work to keep BantaScore available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw features.
- The BantaScore name, logo, design and software belong to us. You may not copy or reuse them without our permission.
- Club, competition and player names are used only to identify matches. They belong to their owners, and BantaScore is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
13. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law that cannot be excluded, or our liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Otherwise, to the extent the law allows: the Service is provided "as is"; we are not responsible for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control (such as bank, payment provider, sports data or network failures), or for indirect losses; and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount of the prize, refund or payout the claim relates to.
14. Closing your account
You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing support@bantascore.com. Withdraw any held winnings or refunds first. Pots you created that are still open will be settled or refunded under these Terms. We may close or suspend your account if you break these Terms, or if the law requires it. We keep certain records after closure, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will show the date of the latest version at the top of this page. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the new Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will always try to resolve a complaint with you directly first. If we cannot, the courts of Nigeria will have jurisdiction.
